Rip-off Hollywood?

Hollywood movie shows almost 50 plot similarities, some very specific, with another 2014 screenplay. Many people, including myself, have either had elements from our screenplays plagiarised, or have had entire screenplays ripped off. As litigation is a long and expensive process, most do not avail of it, or tend to settle out of court for a meagre amount, thus keeping it behind closed doors and continuing the cycle...

HEROMAN - OFFICIAL TEASER (2024) - VERSION 1

Those of you who already read the screenplay will know that the opening of this 2-minute teaser deviates slightly from the original story. This was done purely for dramatic effect. The next version will be closer to the original multiple award-winning screenplay.

'Heroman' reaches Coverfly Top 3% ranking

'Heroman' has reached the Top 3% of all discoverable and all comedy projects on the Coverfly service. Although this is good news, it is only based on 5 of its many accolades, none of which are its wins. The ranking would've been a lot higher had they included ALL placements, especially the wins, but unfortunately, their algorithm is limited to when the competitions joined their ranking system. (So, only 2017 and later for the Nashville Screenwriting competition, for example, but not their inaugural 2014 competition where Heroman won in Sci-fi). Still not bad, I suppose.

Plagiarism in Hollywood: More true than we realise.

I can appreciate this silly kids' comedy because it shows what Hollywood producers and many (but not all) movie producers can be really like. Paul Giamatti even looks like that one I had a bad experience with and several scenes mirror my own personal experiences. Plagiarism is more rampant in the movie industry than we realise. Although no longer stealing entire scripts for legal reasons (it has happened to people I know), if you're a good enough writer, they will steal your ideas, characters, original jokes, lines of dialogue and even entire scenes to the point where they will render your own work stale or obsolete. Always be cautious when submitting your original work. Don't sign anything and be sure to check other writers' experiences.

Heroman is trending on the IMDbPro Moviemeter!

Heroman has reached 100,787 on the IMDbPro Moviemeter even though the movie hasn't been made yet! Could this be due to its screenplay wins and nominations?

New Blog

Just set up a new blog re: copyright infringement cases and what to do about them. More cases to follow as they're made known to me:

It's truly disconcerting when this happens. All the more reason to (a) get an entertainment lawyer and (b) not bother sending your work unsolicited to producers. Rip-off artists will always get what's coming to them and get blacklisted.

Austin Screenwriting Semi Finalist 2013

Heroman Screenplay has reached the Austin Screenwriting Competition Semi Finals! Out of 6,236 scripts, it was the only one to do so in 2 categories this year: Top 20 in Comedy and Top 10 in Dark Hero Studios' Sci-Fi Category, making it roughly within the top 0.16%. They just loved my take on the genre!
